Return to previous page

It’s common for Porsche 911 and 912 models to have different types of splines on the “lower” steering shaft. Typically, the 911 models produced before 1974 and the 912 should have fine splines, while later models generally have coarse splines. Please refer to the pictures below as a reference.

• Fine spline before 1974

• Coarse spline after 1974

To ensure we provide the correct wire harness for your vehicle, it is important that you provide us with the year of manufacture when placing your order.

The Porsche 912 first introduced the electronic speedometer in 1969. The Porsche 911 adopted the electronic speedometer starting in 1972, with the 911 S model leading the way.

Knowing the year of your vehicle’s manufacture enables us to identify its speedometer type and ensure we supply you with the proper harness to ensure compatibility.
