At the same time, these classics are known for their relatively heavy steering at low speeds, especially when parking, maneuvering, or driving with wider tires.
With EZ Electric Power Steering’s electric power steering, you’ll enjoy significantly greater driving comfort, while the authentic character of your Austin-Healey is fully preserved. The assistance is particularly noticeable at low speeds, making parking, turning, and maneuvering much less strenuous. As speed increases, the characteristic and direct steering feel is maintained.
EZ Electric Power Steering offers a new steering column with integrated electric power steering. Since your car has a one-piece steering column, this replacement applies only to the upper section of the steering column, which is located beneath the dashboard. The kit comes with a custom-fit adapter to ensure a secure connection to the original steering column.
Two different types of mounting brackets are used in the Austin Healey, which vary depending on the model year and dashboard design. Additionally, before selecting the correct EZ Power Steering unit, you should check the type of dashboard in your vehicle to ensure compatibility.

Note: With this modification, the turn signal and horn controls on the steering wheel will continue to function, but they will rotate with the steering wheel after the modification. In practice, this isn’t a problem, because the turn signal is turned on before a turn and turned off again after a turn. In both cases, the steering wheel is in the straight-ahead position.
